MISSIONS TO SEAMEN
Attractive and varied programmes have been held at the Mission to Seamen Hall, Stout Street, to entertain the seamen in port recently. On Sunday, October 11, a special church service was held for the Norwegian visitors, and, on the following evening the men were entertained with interesting slides of New Zealand scenery. A foo(r ball match was arranged between the crews of the Fort Hobart and the Anglo-Norse, at Western Park, Karori, and the-game resulted in a win for the Scandinavians by 3-1. Mr. Erling B. Jensen acted as referee. The men were again entertained at an informal dance, and a jolly evening was spent. A gala night was held on Thursday to farewell the men from the Anglo-Norse, which left on Saturday for the Peruvian coast. Novelty danced were a feature of the programme, and the hall looked very gay with streamers and. balloons. Supper was served by the ladjes. and a successful evening was brought to a close .by the singing of. the Norwegian National Anthenj and "God Save the King." .
