The success of the concession to telephone subscribers of 200xfree calls per annum which came into operation on October 1 appears to be already assured. Post offices announce that the number of calls which originated in the London telephone area in the week ended October 10 reached a new high record, only previously approached at Christmas, of 21,667,898 and exceeded the total for the corresponding week of last year by 2,747,120.
