One of the strangest stories in the history of Scotland Yard was advanced a further stage when, the "Daily Telegraph" learned recently, detectives recovered a further £10,000 worth of jewellery alleged to have been stolen in Germany.,

. The case was mentioned at Bow Street recently, when Karl Schiffbauer, a well-dressed young man, was remanded. Detective-Inspector George Hatherell, of Scotland Yard, stated that he told Schiffbauer that he had a provisional extradition warrant for his arrest, and that the German police alleged he had stolen jewellery valued at more than £60,000. It was addea that jewellery valued at £40,000 had been recovered by Scotland Yard. It is understood that some of the jewellery recovered was concealed in tubes of tooth paste and pots of face cream. It included a pearl necklace valued at 'more than £6000 and diamond ear^
