"IN A TURMOIL"
CONDITIONS IN EUROPE
"Everything in Europe is in a turmoil and nobody knows what will happen," said Mr. W. Fels, well known in business circles in New Zealand, who returned by the Eangitiki from London today. Mr. Fels has been away lor fifteen months, and in addition to visit-ing-Great Britain he travelled in many countries in Europe. ,As to the international outlook, Mr. Fels's comment was that all the nations werfc arming and one had to draw one's own conclusions. The prospect was not pleasing. ~Mr. Fels was in Spain in March and he said that, at that time, except for the fact that a few churches were being burned down because of feeling against the priests, everything looked peaceful, and yet two, months afterwards there was an explosion; the revolution had broken out. When he was in Spain he detected no undercurrent of public feeling suggesting a r,eyolution. Asked what he thought was the- outlook for Spain if the rebels won, Mr. JTels said that was something that one Could not foresee. It would be simply ridiculous to make a forecast. Mr. Fels has come back to New Zealand convinced that this; country is a Very good place to live in.
