FOR INDIA SERVICE
NEW BRITISH LINER
(British Official Wireless.)
RUGBY, October 19.
The new liner City of Benares, which has been specially built lor the joint service of. the City and Hall Lines between the United: Kingdom and India, made the passage from the Clyde, where she was built, to the Mersey during the weekend. She was well tested in the weather, which at times rose to gale force. :
The City of Benares is a two-fun-nelled coal-burner, and combines accommodation for the carriage of' a limited number of passengers at very reasonable fares and a considerable amount of cargo. Facilities provided for passengers, of whom 250 will be catered for, include an open swimming bath, and throughout the ship there, is ample evidence of special design and provision for, tropical weather as well as for cool latitudes.
