NEW ISSUE OF SHARES
The terms of a new issue of ordinary shares in David Jones,- Ltd., drapers, Sydney, were announced by the chairman (Mr. Charles Lloyd Jones) at the annual meeting. He said the directors proposed to issue 200,000 ordinary shares of £1 at a premium of 10s each. Ordinary shareholders would have the right to take up one new share for every three held as at January 11 next. The new capital is required to finance the company's building programme. Referring to balance-sheet items, Mr. Lloyd Jones said that the staff superannuation fund, now shown at £25,768, would have to be built up to a greater amount before it would be large enough to meet full requirements. An increase of £88,349 in bank overdraft was reflected in a decrease in mortgage and an increase in investments.
