"THROWING AWAY" MONEY
(Special to. the "Evening Post.") DUNEDIN, October 19. On the second day of-the-recent Dunedin Meeting, the three-year-old-Norseman, a half-brother by Valkyrian to High Glee, was sent out with 14Jlb overweight in- ( the Novice Handicap. Naturally with 9.9£ in the saddle he was unsighted, but At seemed strange for a trainer to run a horse with such a' weight when it could easily have been avoided.
The putting up of such unnecessary overweight is one of those things in racing that clubs should see is not permitted, except in unusual ' circumstances. There are always members of the public ready to take, a long shot on. a horse practically unsupported. It is no' argument that they should check up overweights, etc., before betting. It should be the duty of the club to see that no: one is allowed to "throw away" money.,on hopeless, prospects.
