Sixteen persons were killed and many injured in an earthquake in the neighbourhood of Udine. Fifteen o| those killed were trapped while sleeping in houses which collapsed at Caw eva di Sacile. There was another vie* tim at Conegliano, where an ancient castle was shaken down. Fifteen per* sons were injured in Venice, wher« old houses fell.
