UPPER HUTT CLUB

The opening ceremony of the Upper Hutt Bowling, Croquet, and Tennis Club was held before a large attendance*- •• :- Mr. G. H. Guthrie introduced Mr. B. Roberts, M.P..ipr Wairarapa, and Mr.' W. E. Pawson, of Petone. ■Mr. Roberts expressed pleasure at being present. He ■'• hoped that the leisure made possible by the introduction of the 40-hour week- would be utilised on the field of sport. . Mr. Pawson wished the club a successful, season, - and ..commented on the. number, of times he had been present at the opening of the club. ■ Miss Guthrie threw up the kitty and the first bowL; Mr. Roberts hit" the first ball over the net at the opening of the tennis section, and Miss. Roberts put the first ball through the hoop on the croquet green. '
