LEVIN CLUB OPENING
The weather was ideal for the opening of the Levin Tennis Club on Saturday. Dr. S. J. Thompson, president of the club, presided at the ceremony and welcomed members and visitors to the opening. He called on the patron, Mr. D. S. Mackenzie, to present the trophies won last season, after which the Mayor of Levin, Mr.'P. W. Goldsmith, declared the courts open for play for the season. Trophies were presented as follows:— • , Championship events.—Senior ladies' singles, Mrs. N. M.: Thomson; junior ladies' singles, Miss' M. Blenkhorn; senior men's singles, T. Tuohy; junior men's singles ,A. R. Cramond; ladies' doubles. .Mrs.'Porter' and Miss Kerr; men's doubles, T. Tuohy-and K. Lemmon; combined doubles,'N. M. Thomson and Mrs. Thomson.
Handicap events.—Ladies' singles, Mrs. Porter; men's singles, T. Tuohy; ladies' doubles, • Mrs. Porter and - Miss Kerr; men's,doubles, T. Tuohy and K. Lemmon; combined doubles, V". G.'Astley and Mrs. Astley.
