iv *v Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 18. ' Nine pipe bands and five brass bands were entered for the annual contest of the Canterbury Proyinc tal Bands' Association held yesterday. The Christchurch Highland Band won the quickstep and the selection for pipe bands. The Timaru Highland Band was second in the quickstep and the Canterbury Caledonian Band tieti with Timaru in the selection. The B grade quickstep in the brass section was won by Ashburton, the Christchurch Municipal being second and the same two bands were first and second in the test selection. The; Timaru Municipal junior band won the C grade quickstep, and the selection. Geraldine was second in both cases.
