CITIZENS' DAY NURSERY
MEETING OF COMMITTEE
The committee of the Citizens' DayNursery met recently under the leadership of Lady Gray, who opened the proceedings by referring to the death ol Mrs. A. J. Luke, all present standing in silence.
Members expressed delight with the improved appearance of the nursery, Lady Gray having been to . much trouble in choosing the right paint and paper. The new flagged path enables the children. to go round the house dryshod,- even in wet weather. - - Mrs. Addison and Mrs. Coutts were appointed visitors' . for the coming month: The date for the. annual Christmas party for the children was fixed for December 14.
It was reported that several parents have testified recently to the matron's kindness to their children, even when it took her outside the scope of the nursery work. The daily hot dinner, with plenty of vegetables and ,milk pudding is the mainstay of'Some-of the little ones. The Smith '.Family supplies the milk and the children get the good of the food by being kindly treated in clean and warm surroundings. Upstairs in the nursery is a cot-room with rows of little beds for day sleeps, and downstairs a sun-room with cots for babies. It says much for the efficiency and attention of the staff that during the last fifteen years dealing with these little ones not a single serious accident has occurred.
