RICCARTON HAND

VINTAGE TO MISS TRIP

(By Telegraph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.") CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Riccarton stables will have a strong team racing at the Wellington Meeting. Besides the teams of H, Cutts and C. C. McCarthy already at Trentham,- P. V. Ma§on will go north tonight with Roaming and Lofty, two hacks who have done a lot of useful work, and S.- Barr has also arranged to leave tonight with Redolent and Vitaphone. Barr's . pair both have hurdle engagements. Vitaphone was lame after his race at Washdyke on Saturday, but has improved, and it is hoped to be able to race him on the last day at Trentham.

T. H. Gillett expects to send Wexford Bridge tomorrow night for hurdle races, but this will be his only representative. J. S. Shaw will also go tomorrow with three horses, Dollar Bill and the two-year-old Atalanta Lass, who will be racing on the first day, and Matoru, who will be seen later on at the meeting;

Mrs. J. Campbell will have a team of three, Tunneller* • Knockfin, and Orange Bud, and they will travel north tomorrow night. They have been working well. C. Dayey has Davolo in good trim and will leave fomorrow. F. Jones has no horses engaged on the first day, but plans to go north on Thursday with Custos, possibly also taking Cerne Abbas. A definite decision will be reached after they are worked tomorrow. A. S. Ellis accepted with the two-year-old Patuma, but will not make the trip.

Mrs. J. Campbell has had bad-luck

with Vintage. He was going on nicely, the operation for his wind apparently being a success, and his forelegs being all right, but he has sprung a curb and his Trentham trip has been cancelled. It. looks as if a spell will be necessary. ■

The three-year-old Impersonater was kicked last week by one of his stablemates, and it Was found necessary to lea\ him out of the Chokebore team for Trentham.- The trouble does not look serious, however, so he should resume work soon. -
