Mr. Earl Browder, 'the ■ Communist candidate for the Presidency, today sued the Mayor and the Chief of Police of Terre, Haute for 50,000 dollars, alleging loss of time, false arrest, and malicious prosecution. '■'
A, cable dated October .1 stated that Mr. E. Browder had beeri'arrested and charged with vagrancy. Four colleagues, Including Waldo Frank, the novelist, were also1 imprisoned. The Mayor, Mr. Beecher, a Republican, stated that he, would not allow Communism to be established at Terre Haute. Mr. Landon and President Roosevelt recognised that Communism was a menace to the nation.
