LONG FINAL DISCUSSION
RESERVE BANK APPOINTMENT
THE BORROWING POLICY
Though the Finance Bill, covered a large number of important matters, the Opposition in the' House of Representatives yesterday confined its major attack to the clause dealing with the payment-of compensation for land taken under the Public Works Act and to that validating the appointment of. Miv Mark Silverstone/ of Dunedin, to the Reserve Bank Board. The. latter subject proved particularly provocative, and practically every speaker had something to say about it. The House was divided on these two issues, and also on a motion for the closure, which was moved after a protracted discussion on the compensation clause; The House rose at 2.25 a.m. today, after having spent the whole of the sitting in arguing this measure. -..'■-. -. < .
