MID-WEEK PAY DAY
One of the matters discussed at the conference of the Railway Tradesmen's Association was the advisability of an alteration of pay- day from Friday to a mid-week day. Jt was decided to advocate that payment of wages should be, made on Wednesdays.- This 'is not expected to . present insurmountable difficulties, to the Department. .The conference is desirous of assisting in diverting the present congested; shor> ping activities from Friday nighis and Saturday mornings as this will ultimately result in a much larger section of the community enjoying the, benefits, of the five-day week with Saturdays off. .■..'■.■ , ; ' ■'■■'.
