MOTOR REGULATIONS
SUGGESTED AMENDMENTS
The draft motor regulations were the subject of a report, by Councillor E. Windley to the Makara County Council at its meeting today.
' Councillor Windley said he had gone through the draft and recommended that' in" order to minimise the danger of glaring headlights a limit should be placed on the power of lamps used; that the regulation requiring a-war-rant of fitness was not desirable asa motor vehicle might be found lit one day and be out of order on the following day, and provision was made under another ' regulation for penalties for operating a vehicle likely to cause danger on the roads; that as intoxicated motorists wore not wanted on the roads the council should recommend that a motorist convicted of intoxication while driving should have his licence cancelled for five years.
It was agreed that the recommendations' should be forwarded to the Department.
