A FATAL FIND

Declaring that the case showed the danger of carelessly handling a gun, an English Coroner recently returned a verdict of "accidental death" on a man who was shot while trying to take a miniature rifle to pieces. He was William Rowland, aged 64, of Greenford, Middlesex. James Bailey, of Clacton, told the Coroner that he found the rifle, which he had not seen for several years, in a shed, and, after cleaning it, called to Rowland to help him unscrew it. Rowland held it with the barrel pointing to his body while Bailey tried to unscrew the stock. The rifle went off. He did not know that it was loaded.
