ANOMALY IN LAW

NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. An anomaly in the recent industrial legislation is affecting New Plymouth business men, who find it impossible for them to bring their staffs back on Saturday afternoons for stocktaking. They are therefore working their employees on Sundays at double rates of pay. This strange result is brought about by a provision in the Shops and Offices Act, which states that on no acicount can employees work on the statutory hajf-holidays.
