TARANAKI T.C.
"MUST HOLD MEETING" OR OBLIVION
"Though last season we did not hold a race meeting, we hope with the general improvement in conditions to hold a meeting this season on the Saturday after Easter; it is regrettable that we had to abandon last season's gathering, but suitable arrangements could not be made," stated the president (Mr. W. C. Weston) at the annual meeting of the Taranaki Trotting Club. He thought the full support of. the townspeople and an active canvass for members would put Jhe club on its feet again. Mr. E. Jackson said they had to hold a meeting this year or pass into oblivion. It was the great enthusiasm of the officials that carried them through. He felt that the opening of rail communication with the Waikato would benefit them greatly. He had attended the Trotting Conference' in July, and keen disappointment had been expressed at the club's failure to race. He had been promised support, and he felt that they should prepare immediately for a gathering iri April. „ ■■.■'■
