ROAD CYCLING
NORTH ISLAND EVENT
The annual 100' miles Auckland and North Island amateur road cycling championship was held on Saturday from Papakura to Ngaruawahm and back. There were 84 entries. Weather conditions were good,, but there was a fairly heavy cross wind ,allvA h£™' The winner was N. Gamble, of Hunua, a member of the Papatoetoe Cycle Club in the fair tune of shr 25min 9sec. His time was eight minutes I slower than that for last years race over the same course. Fastest time was gained by E. L. G. Hughes, Lynndale Club, in 4hr 53min Bsec. H. F. Hawke, another Lynndale member, took the prize for the junior fastest time in s&r 15min 53sce. Results we re:--N. Gamble (Papakura), 46imn, time shr 25min Ssec, 1: W. H. Smith (Manukau), 36min, shr 18min 525ec.2, H. F. Hawke (Lynndale), 33min, shr 15min 57sec, 3; R. Evans (Wellington , 43min, shrl9mhvl7sec, 4.
