ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION
Negotiations for the purchase of Captain Scott's famous ship Discovery have beein reported by the -London "Daily Telegraph," which ■: understands that the British' Empire photographic expedition-proposes sailing in it for the Antarctic at ' the .end of; the autumn. The intention, it is believed, is to explore the coast' between Princess Elizabeth Land and Banzare Land, a distance of over' 3500 miles, the greater-part of which- has never been seen by former expeditions. ■ '■ - ■
A report was also ■ made '< that; the Discbveryvwould.be captained,by Commander F.A. Worsley, who, was '.also captain of Sir Ernest' Shackleton's' Endurance . and Quest and navigator of the boat which made ■ the" historic crossing' from Elephant Island'to South Georgia in 1915. . This,; however, has' not. been confirmed by Commander" Worsley, who regrets that.,he is not In a position at present to. accompany the expedition, •for.his 'engagements will keep him in' England until the end of the year.
