METROPOLITAN DAY

AN EASY VICTORY

YOUNG CRUSADER SCORES

L'uiteil Press ' Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, October 5. The second day of the A.J.C. Spring Meeting was held at Eandwick today in fine, cool weather. There was an excellent attendance, and the fast times indicated that the track was in splendid condition. The Veilmond colt Rodborough brilliantly won the Breeders' Plate. Commencing smartly, he drew away passing the half-mile, and ran on untroubled to win by three lengths. The lightly-weighted Young Crusader made a one-horse rac<? of the Metropolitan Handicap. Dasmng to the front at the barrier rise, he quickly established' a six lengths' lead and ran home five lengths ahead of the field. ' Gay Blonde gave a grand performance to win the Squatters' Handicap. Running in last position passing the half-mile, she unwound a brilliant run in the straight which carried her to victory with three lengths to spare. Apart from the effort of Gay Blonde, the New Zealanders throughout the day performed poorly. The jockey W. Cook, who lost the Epsom Handicap on a protest, received a measure of compensation today, piloting three winners. M. McCarten was held responsible for interference with Tonga in the Shorts Handicap, and was suspended from riding for one month. : Results:— THE SHORTS HANDICAP, £800; 6 furlongs. W. H.
