FERSEN FOR ELLERSLIE

(Special from "Hurry On.") NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 23. • Heavy rain during the night left the tracks at New Plymouth rather heavy for training operations yesterday morning. All the galloping took place on the course proper with the flags out about 20 feet. Fersen, who came through his race at Foxton in great style, was exercised on the inside. He is a ball of muscle and promises to be in great order for Ellerslie next month. Brilliancy, who lightened up on his trip, was let off with an easy task. He will be given a short spell before racing again. ' ■ v Card Sharper and Mowgli were not hurried to run half a mile in 56Jsec. Card Sharper is making good progress and may be taken to Auckland with Fersen for educative purposes. After breakfast Calshot bowled over half a mile in 55jsec. He has built up splendidly and carried out his task in workmanlike fashion. Ngatirahiri was let off with an easy task. He has not done well since racing at the Combined Hunts Meeting and has R. Johnson rather puzzled. Aussie Ra and Davistock hit out in bold fashion over five furlongs in I lmin Bsec. Aussie Ra is holding his condition well, but has not been given a great deal of fast work. It would appear as though his connections have no serious designs on the New Zealand High Test, who is looking well, did pace work on the inside. He may make his reappearance at Trentham. ClessaTTior, who ' has recovered from his teeth troubles, is building up again nicely. So far no definite plans have been made for his future programme, though he may accompany High Test to Trentham. Bonny Glow and Lady Kyra separately bowled over half a mile at a good half pace. Both are making good progress and will probably race at Waverley. Grateful has changed stables and is now in the charge of P. Farrell.
