EASTBOURNE GATHERING

Members of the Eastbourne Rugby Club held a gathering on Saturday to mark the conclusion of the season. Trophies were presented by the club patron, Mr. G. Law. The Mayor of Eastbourne, Mr. E. W. Wise, congratulated the club on the spirit of sportsmanship prominent in the club throughout the season. That more than compensated, he said, for the fewer successes than in the past few seasons of club teams on the field. Trophies presented by Mr. Law were as follows:—Most improved players (Law Cups): Senior A. F. Berry; senior B, R. Hill; junior. W. Andrews; third grade, J. Evans. McDuffs' medals: Third grade, best back, E. Gerard; best forward. T. McLaughlan; seventh grade (Samuels. Cups), I. Probert and J. Schneideman; G. Law Cup, for the player who dropped the least number of passes during the season, A. B. Struthers (seventh grade); special trophy. J: Fleming; trophy for most useful club member. B. Phillips; Josling Challenge Cup (winner of club events). M. Hill; Law Cup, for team scoring highest number of points in the Wellington competition, third grade.
