EMPIRE CONGRESS
CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
An outline of the social activities that will take place in Wellington during the Empire congress of the Chambers of Commerce next month was given to the Wellington Rotary Club by the president of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood) today at the clubs "The overseas delegates to the congress would arrive in New Zealand on September 29, he said, and they would constitute the largest and most distinguished gathering of guests New Zealand had ever been asked to entertain. Wellington would be their host for a week, and while he was not asking the Hotary Club to do anything as a club, he knew members would be glad to give those personal attentions, that could make visitors feel at home. There would' be functions at the St. George Hotel on Thursday* October 1, during the morning, and at Government House during the afternoon. The delegates would be received at Parliament Buildings on the Friday, and would be taken for a drive in the country on the Saturday. There would be a civic reception in the Town Hall on the following Monday night, and a grand complimentary ball on the Tuesday night. He asked all Rotarians to be present at that ball.
