SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION f\

A successful and enjoyable entertainment was provided in the Rechabite Hall for members and friends of the Manx Society by pupils.of Mi« 3 Isabel Halligan and Miss Margaret Oates. ■ ' .. ■.'■;']

A very large number of guests assembled, and the accommodation in, the hall was taxed to its capacity.',;

The programme was arranged by Miss Constance Kelly and Miss Matgaret;,Oates, who were congratulated on providing such an enjoyable "entertainment. ■:'■

The singing of "Elian Tannin" opened the proceedings, and thereafter the following contributed items:— Misses Mary McGavin, Betty Burridge, Colleen Walling, Colleen Gay (recitations), and Misses Audrey Flitcmft, Colleen Grainger, Dorothy: Atkin, Joan Gallaher, Mazey Preston, tila Coddle, Gladys Lockerbie, Anne 806, and Jeaji Robertson (dances). Each of the items was received with enthusiasm and th<s recalls were many. ; !"'.;

Dancing .was interspersed between the items. Mr. F. T. Alexander w&s M.C. and Mr. David Clarke- provided good music at the piano. Mrs. Hording and Mr. H, Callow played several extras.

The president, Mr. G. G. Watterson, thanked all the performers on behalf of the committee of the society/ and j presented'each of the.younger artists with a box of chocolates ag a token of appreciation. Supper was served by members of the ladies' committee, and afterwards dancing contihued'until | a late hour. , r ■' \ *'-•' The singing of "Auld Lang* Syne" concluded one of the most pleisant evenings ever given by the, society.
