LATE R. ALEXANDER
(Special to the "Evening Post.") HASTINGS, This Day, The death of Ron, Alexander, a wellknown Hawke's Bay trainer, followed a painful illness brought about by, a slight accident when riding twelve months, back. As a boy he entered the stable of Murray Hobbs, at. Riccarton, to whom he was indentured, but he rode very little as a jockey, setting up early as a public trainer ;at Riccarton, where he immediately met with success. Later he was employed by Mr. J. J. Corry as private trainer, and while at Blenheim he was selected from many applicants as private trainer to Mr. T. H. Lovry. At the termination of this agreement he set up .at Greenmeadows as a public trainer. Among his patrons were the Hon. P. C. Webb,, the Hon. G. R. Hunter, and the Wellington owner, Mr. F. Flipp. A man of strict integrity, unassuming manner, and kindly disposition, he was a credit to his profession and he was held in the highest regard by his fellow-trainers, jockeys, and owners. To his widow, a niece of Mr, Murray Hobbs, and his young family the sincere sympathy of a host of friends wijl be extended in their sad! bereavement.
