SALE OF WORK
ST. MARK'S PARISH
The Church Hall at St. Mark's was a very bright and cheerful place yesterday, when the annual sale of work took place. There were bright decorations all rolmd the hall, and the stalls were particularly well arranged. The flowers were lovely, spring blossoms being there in masses. The produce stall was a very good one and, as usual, was a most popular one. There were good sideshows, and the bran tub provided a special amusement for the little ones present.
There were many who came from other parishes, and on the. platform with the Vicar (the Bey. N. F. E. Robertshawe) were Lady Buckleton and her daughter, Mrs. Robertshawe, Archdeacon and Mrs. Hansell, Mrs. W. Bullock, Rev. H. E. K. Fry and Mrs. Fry (Lower Hutt), Rev. A. T. B. Page, Mrs. Marsh, Mr. and Mrs. Barltrop, Mrs. Chambers, Mrs. T. H. Sprott, Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Button. ■
Lady Buckleton, who was cordially welcomed by the Vicar, opened the sale and gave many good wishes for its success.
Those who organised the stalls were:—Mrs. A. P. Williamson, Mrs. E. M. Lemis, Mrs. M. Morgan* Mrs. C. Trott, and Miss Lewis, ladies' guild fancywork stall; Miss Preston,, Miss Charlton, and members of the choir, flowers; Mrs. A. I. Smith, Mrs. G. Dobson, Mrs. C. Thornton, Miss B. Smith, sweets; Mrs. Barltrop, Mrs. G. Chambers, Miss Higgs, home produce; Miss B. Cannon, Miss W. Helliwell, Miss Fearnly, fancy goods; Mrs. Ulmer, Mrs. Nicholas, Mrs. Cuthbert, Mrs. Bentley, Mrs. Verry and Scouts, Scout stall; Mrs. Mark, Miss Bicknell, Miss G. Jenkins, cake stall; Miss Goldfinch, Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. Blackey, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Meyer, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Wood, Miss Christie, Miss Rees, Miss Drake, refreshments. The sale of work will Vm continued today and tonight.
