RUGBY RIVALS
SATURDAY'S TEST
AUSTRALIA AND N.Z.
BOTH'TEAMS IN TOWN
In meetirig.their engagements on the. present tour of New Zealand, the Wallabies—Australia's Rugby football representatives—have had an overdose of wet weather, and they arrived, in Wellington today with the fond hope that here they would meet conditions much more to their liking. They are in Wellington for the first of the two Tests with New Zealand's representatives, an event regarded as the most important of the tour, and one in which the visitors hope to demonstrate that the results of the matches with the provincial sides are not a reliable guide to form.
Most of the visiting players arrived by train from the Wairarapa today, an advance party having come by car. The Wallabies, accompanied by Colonel J. G. Roache as the New Zealand Rugby Union's representative, were met at the station by Mr. S. S. Dean (chairman of the New Zealand Rugby-Union), Mr. J. Prendeville (chairman of the Wellington Rugby Union), Mr. H. Murphy (who is acting as local manager for the visitors), and other officials. They afterwards proceeded to Parliament Buildings, to be received there by the [Prime Minister, (the Rt. Hon. M. J. [Savage). ■ . ' , ! Several 'of the visitors were suffering from minor injuries, and some had had colds, but it was expected that a thoroughly fit team would be placed in the field for the.Test on Saturday.
The members of ' the New Zealand team, with the exception of G. F. Hart, were in Wellington today, and they went to Lyall Bay for a practice. Hart will not be arriving from Christchurch until the morning of the match. Mr. M, F. Nicholls is the manager of the New Zealand team. .
The Australian team's manager, Mr. E.. G. Shaw, who remained in Napier owing to illness, was expected to arrive in Wellington this evening.
