The report of. the pdst-mortem examination did, not" clear up .the actual source of the injury that . brought about the death - of Diamond in the Grand National Steeplechase. The back was shattered below the loins, the vertebrae in the region of the fracture being badly splintered. It was not possible to tell whether the bone had been previously cracked or injured, but the extent of the fracture indicated that this possibly had been the case.
