LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

SEATOUN BRANCH

The tenth annual meeting of the Seatoun branch of the League of Mothers was held recently in the Seatoun Kiosk, there being a large attendance of members. The report was j presented by the : secretary and the! financial statement- by the' treasurer,' both of .which proclaimed the year a most successful one. The ' following officers were. elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs. Oliver; vicepresidents, Mesdames Chudley, Kellow, Turner, and O'Leary; hon. secretary,, Mrs. Allan; treasurer, 'Mrs.' McFarlane; magazine secretary, Mrs. Stevens; committee, Mesdames Stevens, Rands, Fish, Short, Stephen, Kehoe, Perry, Christoperson, r Richardson, Greig, Fisher, Kellaway, Collins, and Walmsley; official accompanist, Mrs. Cuddy.

The branch expressed its deep regret at the resignation of Mrs. -Alex Smith as president, which office she has held for seven years. In presenting Mrs. Smith with a token of their esteem members spoke in eulogistic terms of her untiring efforts bn.'b. ehalf of the Seatoun Branch and the league generally, her work being a great .'inspiration to all. ■,■■•■:'■.■■.

An opportunity was also made, to farewell Mrs. Hogg (vice-president of the branch and a foundation member), who is leaving the district. The absence of Mrs. Hogg and her family from-Seatoun will be keenly.felt by all, and her fellow-members of the league gave tangible expression of their affection, and presented her -with, a suitable gift.*. . ; . ■. ■-■ :•_■

The Dominion president (Mrs. Chas. White) was present and spoke in glowing terms of the work done by Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Hogg over a long period of years. - •

The afternoons programme included two charming songs by Mrs.- Ramsey, whom members were pleased to..- see again after her trip abroad; elocutionary items by Mrs, Fellowes. and songs by the choir. Afternoon .tea find the usual social chat concluded a'j very happy afternoon.
