ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS
The parishioners of St. Mary's Anglican Church, Karori, are ' this week celebrating the seventieth anniversary of the consecration of the first church building, which occupied the site where the present church stands. Although Wednesday next is the actual anniversary day of the consecration, a series of services connected with the celebration has been arranged for this week. The preacher at the morning service yesterday was the Yen. Archdeacon A. -L; Hansell, a former vicar. There was a large, attendance, as there -was also- at the evening service, when the sermon was preached by the Rt. Rev. W. G. Hilliard, Bishop of Nelson; who also spoke at the children's service in the afternoon. This evening there will be a special anniversary parish social in the Assembly Hall, Marsden SchooL On the anniversary day celebrations of the HolyCommunion will-be held in the morning, and festal evensong at 7,45 o'clock, at which the Rt, Rev. Dr. Holland, Bishop of Wellington/ will ,be the preacher. A sketch of the progress' of I the parish and the church from the earliest days until the present time was published in the "Evening. Post" on Friday last.
