THE REV. JAMES WILSON
Early this morning there passed away at-his residence, Trinity Avenue,-Lower Huttj the Rev. James Wilson, retired Presbyterian minister. Born in Fifeshire, Scotland. 71 years ago, Mr. Wilson arrived in New Zealand about the beginning of the present century, and successively ministered to the parishes' of Quecnstown, Mayfield (Canterbury), Turakina, and Waitali. About four and a half years ago he retired, and has since lived quietly at' Lower' Hult. Mr. Wilson was a man of' strong1 religious convictions and a keen theological student. He was an omnivorous reader, and took a deep interest in the affairs of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand,- at whose'annual General Assembly, he was a regular,attendant for' many ; years. His sympathetic, kindly nature gained him the' esteem and affection of the various congregations he was connected with, and many in different parts of New Zealand'will mourn the passing of- one who was always a welcome visitor to their homes in times of sickness or trouble. Mr. Wilson is survived ~by his widow, who was Miss Jane Simm, of Wellington, two sons—the Rev. Malcolm -W. Wilson, Presbyterian minister at York; England, and Mr. James Wilson, on the executive staff of the Callander Electrical Construction Company, at present engaged on. an extensive contract in Colombo—and one. daughter—Mrs. Stanley Kittow, of Patangata, Hawke's Bay.
