NAVY LEAGUE

Mr. R. Darroch, conference secretary of the New Zealand Navy League, has returned from a lecturing tour of the Wanganui district. The tour was held under the auspices of the recently-formed Wanganui branch of the league, which had the co-operation of the educational authorities. Mr. Darroch addressed members of the Optimists' Club, members of the Navy League and their friends, and the following schools:—Wanganui East, Aramoho, Queen's Park, the intermediate, St. John's Hill, Durie Hill, Castleclifr, Tawhero, Gonville, Moston, Technical College, Collegiate School, ' St. George's, Girls' College,- St. John's Hill: Sacred Heart Convent, St. .Mary's Convent, Westmere, Kai Iwi, Maxwell, Waitotara, Waverley, and Patea.

The subjects of Mr. Darroch's addresses were, "The Navy and Air Forces." "The British Mercantile' Marine," and "Inter-Empire Trade." The addresses were illustrated by posters issued by the Empire Marketing Board and the various British shipping companies. School branches are likely to be formed at most of the schools, and where schools enrol all their pupils, or one hundred pupils where the roll exceeds one hundred, flags will be presented to those schools.
