THIRD RAIL CAR TESTED
.The third rail car for the Wellington-Mastcrton-Palmerston North service, named Mamari, left the workshops on Saturday, and after a trial run to the Hutt and back to Wellington, was taken to Marton, accompanied by the second of the type finished the previous week. Both vehicles produced speed in keeping with that of the first rail car's performances.
The Court of Arbitration will leave tomorrow for Auckland and will take all the available disputes there, including the Dominion freezing workers' case, which is being taken there by special arrangement because of the near approach of the shearing season. From Auckland the Court will return to Wellington.
The next match for the Ranfurly Shield will take place at Dunedin on Wednesday, when Otago will meat Manawatu's challenge. In the fixture list drawn up after the annual meeting of delegates to the New Zealand Rugby Union provision was made for a match between Otago and Ashburton to be played last Saturday, but the match did not take place.
