DEFEAT OF NORTH OTAGO

' OAMARU, August 8: In the first match-of the tour the Manawatu Rugby representatives: defeated North Otago 17-11 (five tries, one converted, to a converted try, an unconverted try, and a penalty goaL The half-time score was 8-6 in favour of North .Otago, but in the second spell the tourists^ passing improved and they threw the ball about in spectacular fashion. Waugh scored three tries for Manawatu. ,
