HIGH-PRICED EWES.

The New Zealand Farmers' Cooperative Distributing Co., Ltd., report that a smaller yarding of fat sheep of mixed quality showed a firming in values for prime lots. Plain and unfinished sorts were hardly up to the last sale's rates. Store sheep of all classes were in active demand, with a general hardening in prices. Mr. F. Gorton topped the market for in-lamb ewes, his 2-tooths making 43s 4d and his mixed age 39s Bd, these prices being the highest realised so far for this season. The offering of dairy stock was smaller than at last week's sale. Cows and heifers close to profit and showing quality sold at fully last week's rates, backward sorts being relatively low. The entry of run fat cattle was for the most part plain and unfinished. Values for prime lots were maintained. Fat cows ex dairy were hardly up to last week's rates. Quotations:—Fat sheep: Fat b.f.'s, 26s 9d, 27s 3d, 28s 9d; fat wethers, 27s 6d, 28s 9d, 29s 6d, 30s, 32s Id, 32s lOd; fat ewes, 21s, 225, 23s 6d, 25s 3d, 27s 6d, 29s 2d; fat maiden ewes. 265, 28s 9d, 30s Id. Fat cattle: Fat bullocks, £9, £9 ss, £9 12s 6d; fat cows, s.h. and Her., £6, £6 7s 6d, £6 18s, £7, £7 7s 6d; fat cows (dairy sorts),.£3 15s, £4 ss, £4 15s, £5 10s; fat heifers (dairy sorts), £3 10s, £3 15s, £4 10s, £5 ss.
