KELBURN HOUSE DAMAGED
At 1.58 a.m. today the Fire Brigade received a call to a house at 140 Upland Road, Kelburn. The fire had gained a fair hold when the brigade arrived, but it was extinguished without difficulty with the hose.
The house, which is a six-roomed one-storey wooden building, was damaged, as were its contents, by fire, smoke, and water. It is owned by Mrs. F. E. Meiklejohn, of. 231 The Terrace, and occupied as a dwelling by Thomas C. McDonald. The outbreak is thought to have originated in the lavatory, but the cause is unknown. Little damage is visible from the outside, as the blaze was internal, starting from the back.
