CAPTAIN APPOINTED
■B. A. Killeen, formerly a member of the Hutt Rugby Club', and now captain of the Auckland representative fifteen, was appointed by the management committee of the . New Zealand Rugby Union last night, to captain the North Island team in the inter-Island match at Christchurch oh August 15. W. Hadley, a member of the 1935 All Black team, also of Auckland, will be Vice^captain. '; :

I The Canterbury Union advised that it had forwarded a challenge to the [Otago Union for the Ranfurly Shield, i'the match to be played on August 29;
\".,Mr. J. Gilchrist, Wellington; was appointed to referee the Seddon Shield match on Saturday between Nelson and Motueka-Golden Bay.
Mr. S. S. Deari presided and those present were Messrs. F. T. Glasgow, W. J. Wallace, T. Fletcher, A. McDonald, H. S. Leith, K. Tahiwi (Maori Advisory Board), and Colonel J. G. Roache, and the Hon. J. McLeod.
