MAY BE SERIOUS

WHEAT POSITION

POSSIBILITY OF SHORTAGE

LONDON, August 4. •While it is too early to think in terms of a wheat shortage, the possibility of it undoubtedly exists, says the "Financial News."

It is too late for the weather to save the United States spring crop, and the position regarding the Canadian crop, even if it is assumed that the damage has been overstated; gives cause for concern. Russia has suffered from a drought, and it is doubtful whether she will export any .considerable quantity. A great deal depejnds on the crops in Australia and Argentina. If these fail or are even 'below average the position might be serious.
