LONDON, August 3.
The "Sun-Herald" news agency understands that an Australian State Government is ingeniously endeavouring to take advantage of Germany's barter system without conceding the principle, which is against the policy of the Commonwealth. It is said to be negotiating the purchase of £50,000 worth of dredging machinery which is obtainable only in Germany, stipulating that Germany must spend the purchase money on Australian wool. It also hoped to. secure the advantage of the German export bounty, saving the Government several thousands of pounds. .
