IMPROVED BALANCE
AUSTRALIAN OVERSEAS TRADE
CANBERRA; Augusts.
Australia's favourable overseas trade balance, for the year ended June 30 was £22,521,000, compared with £16,106,000- the previous year and £37,860,000 in 1933-34. . / • This balance would normally be insufficient to meet Australia's obligations abroad without -drawing .on London funds. It is stated, however, that recently there has been a large flow of capital into Australia for investment, with Iho result that London funds ; will not have, to be drawn upon. ■ The Treasury declines to disclose the amount to the credit of London funds, but it is believed that it is less than £40,000,000, compared with £68,000,000 two years ago,
