EXAMINATION SUGGESTED

WOMEN COMPETITORS

(Received August 1, 11 a.m.)

BERLIN, July 31.

America has recommended to" the International Olympic Committee that all women competitors should be medically examined in view of the case of Zdenka Koubkowa, ' the Czechoslovakian who was changed into a man after becoming the world's woman track champion.

In December last it was reported by cable from Prague that "Miss" Koubkowa, aged 24 years, successfully underwent an operation to change her into a man. In 1934 she refused to' be examined by a medical board in London which was testifying to the effect of athletics on women's constitution. She did not participate 'in events in 1935 for an unrevealed reason.
