THREE FOR SOUTH

MUSTANG NOW DOUBTFUL

(Special from "Hurry On.")

NEW PLYMOUTH, July 31.

Though, a high cold southerly gale made conditions unpleasant for training operations at New Plymouth- yesterday morning the tracks were in good order and there was some interesting work. The galloping took place on the course proper with the tlags out about 30 feet;-.

Royal Secret 'was in front of Hunting Maid at the conclusion of half a mile in 56sec, quite a good effort. Though Royal Secret failed at Awapuni she is looking well. Hunting Maid has trained on satisfactorily since Trentham.

Silk Sox was sent a mile and a half at a good three-quarter pace. He moved freely throughout and pulled up well. H. Dulieu will probably leave for Riccarton tomorrow with Silk Sox, Royal Secret, and Hunting Maid. L. Dulieu will ride the trio in their engagements. Mustang's trip is doubtful.

Silk Sox ■will be turned out for a spell after Riccarton, and his owners have sent his rising four-year-old fullbrother Te Huia to Dulieu.

Clessamor did a good working gallop over a mile, the last five furlongs occupying lmin llsec. He carried out his task in a pleasing fashion. Script and Carleaf ran the first three of five furlongs in 40sec but stopped badly in the straight, taking lmin 12sec for the full' distance. Script afterwards jumped two hurdles in good style. Aussie Ra and Davistock were given an easy working gallop over seven furlongs. Aussie Ra was pulling hard all the way, appearing anxious to increase the pace. This was his first serious/ work-out since recommencing work. Tomoana was going better than High Test at the conclusion of five furlongs in lmin 9sec. Bonny Glow and Lady Kyra did steady pace work. They are coming to hand nicely. -Winsome Lv moved sluggishly over five furlongs, but she rarely works well on her own.
