SPEEDS BETTER THAN
EXPECTED

LONDON, July 28. The Awatea, the new liner built by Vickers-Armstrongs, Ltd., for the Union Steam Ship Company, completed her steaming and speed trials on the Clyde. The speeds obtained exceed expectations, and the owners expect to reduce the time of the run between Sydney and Auckland from 4 to 21 days.
