DRIED FRUITS CASE

MR. R. C. MENZIES'S

COMMENT

(Received July 29, 9 a.m.)

PERTH, July 28.

The Australian Attorney-General (Mr. R. G. Menzies), interviewed upon his arrival from London, said there was a disposition to think that what the Privy Council had done in the dried fruits case was to put' a check on Commonwealth policy, but it had not done anything of the kind.

He added that the Commonwealth Government had passed marketing legislation at the request of State Governments and might well say now that the Privy Council had relieved it of thai, responsibility.
