METHODIST CHURCH

WELLINGTON EAST CIRCUIT

The quarterly meeting of the Wellington East Methodist circuit was recently held at Maranui Church. The Rev. W. G. Slade, superintendent minister, presided over a large attendance of officers.

The new ministers, the Rev. Mr Slade and the Rev. Mr. Willoughby, were formally welcomed by the circuit steward (Mr. M. Cabls).

The circuit membership showed a net decrease of four for the quarter. The income for the quarter was £353 9s 9d and the expenditure £371 Is 9d, leaving a deficit for the quarter of £17 12s. The finance committee was instructed to meet at an early date and go into the financial position of the circuit.

Reports from representatives of each church on youth work indicated satisfactory progress.

A circuit rally was arranged for August 12 at Hataitai and all sections of the circuit were urged to support it loyally.

The resignation through removal from the district of Mr. H. M. Patrick, circuit steward, circuit reporter, and "Methodist Times" agent, was received with regret and it was decided to forward to him a suitable letter of appreciation of his services.

The following appointments to fill the vacancies were made:—Circuit steward, Mr. N. R. Seddon; circuit'reporter, Mr. N. R. Seddon; "Methodist Times" agent, Mr. A. Mackie.

A request from the Christian Pacifist Group to receive a deputation was acceded to and half an hour at the next meeting was agreed upon.

Authority was also given to the Parsonage Trust for the sale of the Hataitai Parsonage on terms to be arranged. The next meeting was fixed for October 13, at 7.30 p.m.
