THEFT OF JEWELLERY

GUILT ADMITTED

NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day.

William Ernest Hewins, who was arrested in Sydney and returned to New Zealand, admitted in the Police Court this morning the theft of jewels from. Lawrence Hedges, a local jeweller, on May 28. Most of the stolen property, which is worth £300, was recovered, and it made a bright display in the Court. Hewins was committed for sentence.

On a further charge of stealing an overcoat, bank book, and an unemployment levy book in Wellington, he was sentenced to a month's imprisonment.
