RECENT CITY MEETINGS

UNITED FRIENDLY SOCIETIES'

COUNCIL.

The annual general meeting of the U.F.S.1 Council was held recently,' the president, Bro. J. G. McGregor, presiding over a good attendance. The annual report showed a successful year for the council's activities, and the balance-sheet indicated a credit balance. , Both were adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Bro. G. Morgan (G.U.0.0.F.); vice-president, Bro. C. F. Lippett (3.U.0.0.F.); past president, Bro. J. G. McGregor (1.0.0.F,, N.Z.); secretary, Bro. H. J. Willia (U.A.0.D.); treasurer, Bro. S. Griffiths (A.0.F.); committee, Sister Collinson, Bros. P. Johnson, T. Gill, and J. Barras; auditors, Bros. E. D Wallis (1.0.0. F., N.Z.) and Johnson • U.0.R.). A vote of thanks to the retiring president for his services, to the council was carried." ' ORDER OF DRUIDS. _ Pride of Brooklyn Lodge.—The Arch Druid,: Bro. A. J. Giddens, presided over a good attendance. One candidate was initiated. The bards reported on sick members, and. sick pay was passed. The lodge adjourned to enable a social -to be I>eld. The District President, Bro. H. J. Willis, assisted bjr Bro. Renkin as master of ceremonies, presented a past arch collar and diploma to Bro: J. D. Mead A very enjoyable evening was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld ■Liang byne. Excelsior Lodge.—The A.D., Bro. Sleep, presided over a large attendance. The bards reported on sick members, and sick pay amounting to £34 9s 4d was passed. The secretary reported on the activities of the UFS Dispensary Board. Visitors from Island-Bay and Coronation Lodges received a warm welcome. Bros. Laughton Roland Mathews (Coronation Lodge) and Stairmand (Island Bay Lodge) replied.
